Experience
EQ2's team members have worked across industries. We understand the daily challenges management teams face because we have probably been in similar situations. Our experience combines specialised knowledge of sustainability accounting and reporting with both financial economics and business systems technology.
Below are a few examples.
Carbon and Environmental footprint
Our client wanted to proactively respond to the NHS’s carbon footprint reduction goals and calculate emissions from its services provision to NHS Trust locations around the UK.
EQ2 provided its evolution platform to capture and calculate direct and supply chain emissions data from a representative sample of six hospitals. EQ2 worked closely with the hospitals to understand the level of information available and what additional data collection would be feasible given their time and resource constraints.
Environmental and Financial Sustainability Master Plan
This public company wanted to quantify and strategically assess its emissions, water, waste, chemical, fuel and refrigerants in 120 global locations. This benchmark project was completed in less than nine months with a detailed report including related financial operating costs submitted to the company’s board. In one location alone over £900,000 in savings were identified.
Annual & Sustainability Reporting
EQ2 was asked to review the client’s environmental data collection and reporting and suggest how to improve the process, ensure data accuracy, and best present the information to external stakeholders. The data needed to be robust enough to be published in the company’s Annual Report, Sustainability Report, and third-party requests such as the Carbon Disclosure Project.
EQ2 recommended improvements in the data collection process and provided the expertise to report in line with required reporting protocols, including DEFRA and the GHG Protocol.
Industry Footprint
EQ2 worked with the US Regional Airline Association (RAA) and seven of its member airlines (representing approximately one-quarter of scheduled US flights) to collect and inventory data on their energy and fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and waste generation.
EQ2 collected fuel and energy use data from aircraft, Ground Service Equipment, and facilities. It was the first time that any of the seven airlines calculated their GHG emissions and EQ2 had to work closely with the airlines to scope and collect appropriate data and to determine the best level of reporting feasible given each airline’s available data. The final result was a jointly published report.
